2nd Annual Waukesha Cup 2021 - Parent/Child Cricket tournament

Youth Cricket in Wisconsin is only a few years old. Having started with 6 youth athletes, we are now looking to celebrate our third year, 65+ kids, multiple counties in our second Annual Parent/Child tournament. The tournament is intended to promote parents role modeling and playing cricket with the youth. It is geared towards beginners and intermediate skill cricketers looking to get into competition level for cricket.

The first tournament was played outdoors in fall last year under strict pandemic rules. 5 teams comprising of adults and youth competed for the Waukesha Cup trophy. The events were live streamed so that family and friends from all over the world could join and safely support the athletes. Checkout the games on YCW YouTube. The Brookfield Blazers are looking to defend their title this year again!

The tournament rules are going to be similar as the first tournament. The rules accommodate participation of youth and the beginner level handicaps needed to boost confidence. While the competition is expected to be strong, the fair rules will bring out the best in all the participants. The 10 overs per innings format will continue, but the number of youth overs required will be increased to 5 per innings. Additionally, the 3 minimum youth players (under 15 define youth) shall need to be on the playing field during the game. These rule updates will help ensure that the youth get opportunities to actively contribute. The trophies for youth MVP per game and 1st and 2nd teams will be the same.

Waukesha Rec is hosting the tournament on the same William Oliver Sports Complex field as last year. Imported pitch from England will be used for the tournament. This tennis ball tournament will be played with safety and good sportsmanship in mind. With the pandemic as a continuing concern, the following guidlines will be in place during the tournament.
